Tom Sharp was born
in Mobile, Alabama, in 1951 and grew up in Mobile. His
practice and
experience over 30 years includes civil litigation and the
following:
- Construction: contract negotiation and litigation representing
owners, contractors, subcontractors and materialmen involving
lien claims, bond claims, defect claims and contract termination
- Environmental: litigation of claims under federal and
state environmental laws; negotiation of environmental
provisions in leases and real estate and asset purchase
agreements; coastal permitting litigation; response to
permit and other violations
- Real Estate: development; condominiums; build to suit
and commercial lease negotiation for landlords and tenants;
sale and exchange transactions; litigation
- Admiralty: defense of personal injury and longshore claims
and product defect claims against shipyards; negotiation
of construction and service contracts; vessel arrest; subrogation
claims
- Employment: defense of wrongful termination and harassment
claims; non-compete and confidentiality agreements; employee
handbooks; compliance advice
- Business Organizations: formation; representation of
buyers and sellers in business acquisitions; distributorship
A significant portion of Tom’s
practice is devoted to advising business and other clients
on compliance
issues and on avoiding or minimizing legal risks and litigation.
Tom
attends St. Ignatius Catholic Church with his wife and
children, is a member of
the Mobile Rotary Club, and has served on various lay boards
of St. Ignatius Church, the Catholic Archdiocese of Mobile
and other civic organizations.
