Clay’s practice is focused in the areas of civil litigation, real estate, construction, business and commercial law. Approximately half of Clay’s practice is in the area of commercial and residential real estate development. Clay represents developers throughout the entire development process, including formation of development entities, initial acquisition of properties, representations before political bodies for re-zoning and approvals of projects, acquiring permits, financing, easements, negotiating leases, and other general real estate matters common to commercial and residential developments.

Clay’s practice also includes representing businesses in the areas of construction, business and commercial law and civil litigation. Clay serves as counsel to businesses involved in all aspects of the construction process, including owners and developers, general contractors, sub-contractors, home builders and material providers. Clay is active in litigating construction disputes as well as resolving disputes through other means such as arbitration and/or mediation. Clay provides his clients with counseling, negotiation with adverse parties, drafting and review of contracts and other preliminary arrangements in order to minimize legal risks before litigation occurs and to avoid future disputes. Clay also assists his clients in the lien filing and account collection process throughout Alabama, Mississippi and Georgia.

Clay is also a member of the AAA Roster of Neutrals for the AAA Customer Account Panel and the AAA Expedited Commercial Panel.

Clay has spoken on matters of interest to the construction and real estate industries, most recently at a seminar entitled “Commercial and Residential Evictions ” in Mobile, Alabama.
