Admiralty and Maritime

The firm has a broad range of experience in admiralty and maritime matters, including the negotiation and handling of a variety of commercial maritime transactions, vessel sale and documentation, Capital Construction Funds, maritime financing including Title XI liens, preferred ship mortgages, the prosecution and defense of maritime claims; collision and allision claims involving ships, barges, dredges, bridges, docks; cargo claims; fines and forfeiture claims respecting vessels; customs fines, penalties, and forfeitures; charter party dispute litigation; seizure of vessels; foreclosure of preferred and foreign ship mortgages and liens; explosion of barges and vessels; capsizing of vessels; shipyard construction and repair type litigation; defense of longshore claims and third-party claims against vessels; limitation of liability proceedings; defense of seamen's claims under the Jones Act; defense of recreational boating claims; and general maritime law disputes. Vickers Riis also handles marine subrogation work for a number of underwriters.
